Bol edits the advertising space

Online marketplace Bol launched several updates this month. One update is a new advertising option that allows sellers to highlight their brand and product range in search results. There have also been changes to the partner platform and review policies.

Bol is an online marketplace from the Netherlands. In 2023, it generated revenues of 2.9 billion euros. Earlier this year, Bol launched a new payment model for partner sellers. Sellers now have the option to get paid once or twice a month. The platform is coming with more updates this month.

Sponsored products have a new look

About half of the partner vendors have now been selected to pilot the new Sponsored Products interface. On the site, certain brands are now highlighted in search results, and more products from that brand’s range will immediately appear. So the update resembles Amazon’s Sponsored Brands.

The new interface will be available to all partner sellers by the end of August

According to Bol, with the new interface they are trying to respond more quickly to the wishes and needs of advertisers. In addition, the interface is more user-friendly, which makes the management and optimization of advertising campaigns more efficient. Setting up campaigns has become easier and partners will also receive comprehensive reports.

Vendors can use the new API for the new interface. The update is expected to be available to all partner resellers by the end of August.

Partner platform and policy changes

In addition, the partner platform itself has a new function. Until now, sellers had to use external tools to track their product positions. From now on, it can be viewed on the partner platform. This makes it easier to track how effective their SEO efforts are.

Bol also changed his policy by revision. Due to the implementation of the Digital Services Act (DSA) across Europe, sponsored reviews will no longer be published on the platform from now on. As a result, customers are prohibited from receiving compensation for posting a review.
